Let's get this out of the way first. Merriweather Post Pavilion is not the greatest record ever made. Chances are it won't even be the best album of 2009. Music criticism these days seems to only hit on the extreme ends of the spectrum, either something is an instant classic, or it's completely dismissed. Well there is nothing wrong with one of the best and, no matter what you think of them, definitive bands of the 00s releasing their most compelling album to date.
Recommended If You Like:
Animal Collective. MPP should satisfy both long time fans and those that always found them to be a little too "arty".
Looks Like:
when you were a kid and imagined your stuffed animals having a dance party.
Feels Like:
a roller coaster ride with your best friend where you think you might die... but you don't, and you want to do it again – immediately!

a high school art room.

spring first hits (it'll sound even better then than it does now).
Vinyl the Cat Says:
There isn't a song on here as good as that one where they say "kitties...kitties", but it's still pretty good.
We will be seeing Animal Collective LIVE at ATP NY 2009.
Come to ATP if you can. It's the most fun you'll have all year. We are not kidding.
