Baths is Will Wiesenfeld, a Los Angeles based musician who is barely old enough to drink. There must be something going on with these kids that have lived their entire lives with electronic music always being somewhere within the mainstream. Their understanding and appreciation of the music seems very natural, as they've been surrounded by it their whole lives, unlike past generations of electronic musicians who had to dig for the right influences.
Baths' stunning debut, Cerulean, has a lived-in feeling. Maybe that's because Wiesenfeld has been making music most of his life, or maybe it's because these sounds come so natural to him. Baths is part of generation of musicians making heartfelt, evocative music with traditionally cold electronics. The result is music that feels as intimate as a songwriter plucking a guitar. We just can't get enough of it.
