It's taken 8 years, but Circulatory System have finally released a second record. While it's tough to say anything would be worth the wait, it's impossible to be disappointed by Signal Morning. William Cullen Hart has created another psych-pop masterpiece, and weren't not even considering his contributions to Olivia Tremor Control. It's a strange coincidence that this record was released the same week as the much ballyhooed Beatles reissues, as Circulatory System seem to take the surreal essence of the Beatles and filter it through another 40 years of sunny, psychedelic music. If you get the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows" stuck in your head while listening to this, that's probably not a mistake.
Signal Morning is full of great moments, as small noises and soundscapes develop into full blown pop anthems. 17 tracks flow in and out of each other, and upon one listen, it might sound like one long song broken up into bits, while other times, the distinctiveness of each song is apparent.
Grab this album while the summer's fading, as it's the perfect score for this time of year.
