Grizzly Bear are taking another crack at it. Veckatimest is their latest attempt to write the most beautiful song ever written. While this is obviously a futile goal, there is something exhilarating in hearing them try to achieve it.
Veckatimest instantly sounds magnificent. Right away, there are stunners like "Two Weeks" and "While you Wait for the Others", but like any great record, it's the songs that creep up on you over time that eventually make it a classic. It's easy to imagine every second being agonized over during the recording and mixing process, as multiple instruments and voices are combined into one gorgeous layer after another. We're pretty sure Veckatimest is filled with songs that won't be fully appreciated for a long time, so we'll just keep listening.
