By day, Nika Roza Danilova is a small-framed girl from Madison, Wisconsin; but by night, she is Zola Jesus. Propelled by the sheer force of her voice, she defies the expectations of what kind of power a petite person might produce. She might not be able to kick your ass physically, but this album could kick your mental ass, and if you're down, you're gonna love it. Zola Jesus truly is a force to be reckoned with.

Smells Like:
springtime in Siberia.
Listen to When:

Vinyl the Cat says:
This sounds nothing like any kind of Jesus I've heard before.
(This Album of the Week write-up was a collaboration between Melanie Saves, Julie Worker Bee, and Aaron Civil War. They are also forces to be reckoned with.)
