IN 2012 (with links galore!):
• Cloud Nothings was our TOP SELLER all year long (well, so far...)!
• Vinyl's weight loss program finally showed some dividends!
• Bears returned to Cleveland for their record release party, and treated us to a very special acoustic in-store!
• We got to see our friends in Menomena again!
• We got to see our other friend who used to be in Menomena (and now rocks it as Ramona Falls)!
• Alley Cat Fridays were made extra awesome with performances by: the soothing sounds of our own Raysistant (who returned as Window Kits), Leia Alligator's Picklefight Puppets, thee Mike Uva, a stripped down (not literally) How to Breathe Underwater, and finally, Obnox, who almost brought the house down, and scared the crap outta Vinyl cat, during their in-store for Melanie's birthday!
• Nada Surf played one of our hottest (literally), most packed in-stores ever, and they were joined by Doug Gillard!
• Fiona Apple and Frank Ocean made records that seemed to transcend genres, pre-conceptions, and varying tastes.
•The xx made another killer make-out record.
• The rest of the indie world discovered that Ty Segall is awesome!
• Box sets reminded us what great bands blur and Codeine were (and still are).
• We downsized our CD selection in exchange for beefing up the vinyl.
• DJ Melanie Saves & DJ MuGG H00ks became a rockin' DJ team with 80's Brunches, a Birthday Brunch, a debut at the B-Side, and a pre-show Sufjan holiday set!
• Pneumonia almost killed Melanie, but she's a true fighter who made her way back to the store!
• We got excited for 2013! There are great things to come for the store, and our Waterloo family! Our webstore will finally launch, our street will be scaped, and that will be followed by the wonders of the Waterloo Operation Light Switch project!
• We made it to age 8, thanks to you!
